Former Governor Jennifer Granholm Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Michigan Governor
Today, former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm endorsed Jocelyn Benson for governor of Michigan. Granholm is the second former Michigan governor to endorse Benson.
"I served as governor for eight years, so I know the qualities that matter most in the state's top job, and Jocelyn has every one of them. She's a hard worker and a dogged defender of Michiganders' rights," said former Governor Jennifer Granholm. "As governor, Michiganders can trust Jocelyn to lower costs, raise wages, and stand up to anyone who would threaten their freedoms. The choice in this election is clear: it's between a clown car of Republican cheerleaders of Trump's unpopular, cost-raising agenda, and Jocelyn, whose focus has always been serving the people of Michigan. I'm proud to endorse her, and will work hard to help make her Michigan’s next governor."
“I’m thrilled to have the support of former Governor Granholm, a trailblazing leader and a tireless champion for Michiganders’ jobs and communities,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “Former Governor Granholm’s decades of service set a bar for those who followed, and I’m grateful to have her in my corner as we work to raise wages, lower costs, and make government work for the people. Together, we can make Michigan a place where everyone can thrive.”
In April, former Governor Jim Blanchard endorsed Jocelyn. Benson is the only candidate to be endorsed by former governors of Michigan.
Former Governor Granholm joins a broad coalition of mayors, city leaders, educators, and labor organizations who recognize Benson’s track record of delivering for Michiganders and making government work for the people. She also has the support of state and national organizations including the Michigan Association of Justice, Michigan Democratic Party’s Black Caucus, the Detroit Original Eastside Slate, EMILYs List, and End Citizen United, among others.
