New Poll Shows Jocelyn Benson with Dominant, Double-Digit Lead in Governor’s Race
Second poll released this week that shows Benson with a commanding first place lead
New polling conducted by Mitchell Research & Communications shows Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson with an overwhelming 12 percentage point lead in the race for governor. The poll, commissioned by MIRS, shows Benson pulling away from the rest of the field as enthusiasm surges for her plans to lower costs, raise wages, and protect the rights of all Michiganders.
Jocelyn leads the field with 42% of the vote, ahead of John James’ 30%, and Mike Duggan’s 13%. The poll also shows Benson maintaining her double-digit lead when matched up against other potential Republican opponents. This is the second poll to come out this week showing Benson ahead of all her opponents. Both polls released this week also show Independent candidate Mike Duggan bleeding support, with today’s poll showing his support down 4% since November, despite $14 million spent on ads.
Key Findings:
Benson leads in the governor’s race by 12 points, winning 42% of voters. John James and Mike Duggan continue to trail Benson with 30% and 13%, respectively.
Benson maintains her commanding lead when matched up against other Republican candidates.
Benson is dominating with key groups - the poll shows her outright winning both female and male voters, Black voters, and voters under 45.
“Not one but two polls released this week confirm what we already know: Jocelyn’s vision for a more affordable state is resonating with voters all over Michigan. This momentum and grassroots support for her campaign to lower costs, raise wages and protect our rights and freedoms will continue to grow as we get closer to Election Day,” said Benson Campaign Manager Nikki Goldschein. “While Jocelyn is speaking directly to the concerns of Michiganders, her opponents are more focused on appeasing Donald Trump, courting corporate PACs and MAGA donors. And despite throwing millions at the race, they are only slipping in the polls. Come November, Jocelyn will win and make good on her promise to build a Michigan where all can get ahead and thrive.”
