NEW: Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Oakland County Executive David Coulter Endorse Jocelyn Benson for Governor
Today, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Oakland County Executive David Coulter endorsed Jocelyn Benson to be the next governor of Michigan. Evans and Coulter join a broad coalition of mayors, city leaders, and labor organizations who recognize Benson’s track record of delivering for Michiganders and her laser focus on bringing costs down, wages up, and making government work for the people.
“I’m proud to stand with Jocelyn Benson because Wayne County families need a leader who is focused on lowering costs, raising wages, and making sure Michigan is a place where everyone can afford to live, work, and build a future,” said Wayne County Executive Warren Evans. “Time and again, Jocelyn has shown she knows how to deliver for our communities — cutting through red tape, saving people time and money, and fighting for the rights and freedoms of every resident. She has consistently demonstrated the steady, effective leadership needed to serve the people of Michigan. That’s the kind of leadership we need in Lansing, and I know she’ll be a true partner in building a stronger Michigan.”
“As Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson transformed one of the most frustrating interactions people have with government into one that actually works. People tell me all the time she took the most broken office in the state and turned it into a model of efficiency, slashing branch office wait times from hours to 20 minutes or less. I’m proud to support Jocelyn’s candidacy for governor, so she can continue making government work for people in Oakland County and across Michigan,” said Oakland County Executive David Coulter. “Together, we’ll lower costs, raise wages, and make Michigan the best place to call home.”
“I’m honored to welcome the support of the leaders of Michigan’s two largest counties to Team Benson as we continue building a coalition for November focused on making life more affordable for Michigan families and standing up to corruption in all forms,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “I’m running for governor to raise wages, lower costs, and make sure government works for the people. I’ll take on anyone who stands in the way of Michigan families — whether they’re powerful special interests, billionaires, or politicians who put themselves ahead of the people they’re supposed to serve. Let’s go!”
Jocelyn Benson is headed into the general with enormous momentum and a team of local leaders, labor organizations, and national organizations behind her campaign including the Michigan Association for Justice, the Michigan Democratic Party’s Black Caucus, the Detroit Original Eastside Slate, EMILYs List, and End Citizens United, among others.
