Energy Costs
Energy Costs

Too many families live in fear of shutoffs, not because they're irresponsible, but because energy costs in Michigan are too high. This isn't just about high bills—it's about a system that has failed working families while protecting corporate profits.
Michigan pays some of the highest energy costs in the country. For decades, utility monopolies have been allowed to raise rates while delivering unreliable service, and our aging infrastructure continues to crumble because the companies that own it prioritize shareholder returns over keeping the lights on. When storms knock out power for days and families lose hundreds of dollars in groceries, these companies face no real consequences. When rates go up year after year while service gets worse, Michiganders have nowhere else to turn.
This is what happens when politicians are bought and paid for by the energy industry. That's why I will not take money from utility monopolies. As Governor, I will work for the people who are struggling to pay their bills, not the corporations profiting off them.
