Jocelyn Benson Tours Union Plumbers and Pipefitters Local in Lansing, Discusses Plans to Raise Wages

Today in Lansing, Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson toured UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 333 and met with union workers to share her plans to raise wages, lower costs, and create well-paying union jobs and apprenticeships across Michigan.

Jocelyn is fighting for a future that makes life more affordable for all Michiganders, builds a government that works for the people, and makes Michigan the best place to call home.

“For me, what this is about is getting a view of hands-on training. A big part of my education plan will be ensuring everyone has an opportunity to earn and learn at the same time in programs like this,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “So seeing what we need to do to expand it has been helpful. I come from a union background — my parents were school teachers, I’m a AFT member, and my grandfather was a steelworker. We need to make sure we’re continuing to invest in programs and opportunities in unions that will keep our workers safe in the workplace and ensure fair pay for honest work.”
