13th Congressional District Democrats Endorse Jocelyn Benson for Governor
Today, the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party endorsed Jocelyn Benson for governor of Michigan. The endorsement comes as Benson continues to consolidate support and secure key endorsements across Metro Detroit.
“The 13th Congressional District Democrats are proud to endorse Jocelyn Benson–a champion for Detroit who we can count on as governor to deliver,” said 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Chair and Wayne County Commissioner Jonathan Kinloch. “Jocelyn is a longtime Detroiter who is deeply ingrained in this community - people know her, they trust her, and she talks about the real stuff impacting us: wages, costs, and the rights people are worried about losing. That’s who we want as governor, and we’re going to work hard to get her there.”
“As our campaign builds momentum all across Michigan, it means the world to me to have Commissioner Kinloch and the Mighty 13th Congressional Democrats on our team,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “My work as governor will be focused on three things: reducing costs, raising wages, and keeping Michiganders safe - in every community. Together we will build a Michigan where everyone has a fair shot to succeed and thrive.”
Jocelyn Benson is supported by a sweeping coalition of Detroit leaders and organizations, including the Original Eastside Slate, Councilwoman Gabriela Santiago Romero, former Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, State Rep. Tonya Myers-Phillips, Rev. Horace Sheffield, Mothering Justice Founder Danielle Atkinson, Detroit actor and former Senate candidate Hill Harper, and former City Council President Saunteel Jenkins.
Jocelyn has received endorsements from a broad coalition of mayors, city leaders, educators, labor groups, and local organizations who recognize Benson’s track record of delivering for Michiganders and making government work. You can find a full list of endorsements here.
