Jocelyn Benson Meets with Detroit Faith Leaders, Secures Key Endorsement from Judge Greg Mathis

Yesterday, Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson met with faith leaders in Detroit to share her plans to make life more affordable in Michigan, and how she’ll fight for the rights of all Michiganders as governor. During the event, Judge Greg Mathis endorsed Jocelyn for governor —the latest addition to a growing list of Detroit area leaders, labor organizations, and faith groups supporting Benson’s campaign to lower costs, raise wages, and protect the rights of all Michiganders.

“I believe Michigan can be the economic engine of the Midwest. Where it's as easy to start and grow any business—either here in Detroit, or anywhere else in this state—as it is anywhere in this nation. Where child care is affordable and accessible to all. Where our public schools are fully funded with teachers who are paid well, and students that are thriving and being prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. That's what we can build here in this state,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “We will take on that unfinished work of the civil rights movement, and we will continue to lead here in the state of Michigan.”

“We should vote for someone with the experience to address the most important issues of our era, and we should go with someone who we know and who we trust. And we know Secretary Benson, and we trust [her],” said Judge Greg Mathis. “I endorse Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson for governor for the state of Michigan. Our secretary of state should protect our voting rights as she has, and we'll fight to continue the opportunity to vote without voter suppression.”
