Jocelyn Benson for Governor

PRESS RELEASE

Jocelyn Benson, Sen. Kevin Hertel Rally Voters Ahead of Election Day

Today, Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for Governor Jocelyn Benson launched a canvass in Rochester Hills with State Senator and Democratic nominee for Michigan SD-12 Kevin Hertel – one of the key districts Democrats need to keep to win back their trifecta.

In the final week before Election Day, Jocelyn has been traveling the state to campaign alongside down-ballot Democrats in competitive districts, highlight their plans to deliver for Michiganders, and win back a trifecta in November. Jocelyn and Kevin are both fighting for the same things: corruption out of politics, a great public school education for every child in Michigan, and a government that works for Michiganders.

“You can't knock a turf in this district without hearing somebody tell you about the time they just filled up their car, and the price they're paying because of the choices of this Presidential administration. You can't talk or knock a turf without talking to somebody about their health care costs that are going up, that is making it hard to afford their groceries that have also become more expensive,” said Sen. Kevin Hertel. “I think what is very clear between myself and my opponent, between Secretary Benson and John James, is that we are actually offering solutions to those problems.”

“The work you're doing today is critical in ensuring voters know the real choice that they have to make on their ballot this November, by Tuesday. And that's a choice between leaders like the ones you see standing here with me, who will fight for the people, who will work for the people, who have a plan to solve those real problems that Kevin was talking about: solving the healthcare crisis problem, ensuring that in every community in this state healthcare is affordable and accessible,” said Jocelyn Benson. “That's a sharp contrast, at least with my opponent. He went to Washington D.C., and you guys know what he did: he voted three times to raise your healthcare prices. Well, Democrats, the ones you've seen here and all across our state, we've got a plan to actually lower those healthcare costs.”
