Michigan-Ontario Council of Bishops Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Governor

Today, the Michigan-Ontario Council of Bishops endorsed Jocelyn Benson for governor. The endorsement adds to a growing list of Detroit area leaders, labor organizations, and faith groups supporting Benson’s campaign to lower costs, raise wages, and protect the rights of all Michiganders.
“People across Michigan are struggling. Every week at our churches, we hear about how amid rising prices, folks just can’t get ahead. As pastors, we are called to both prayer and action. That’s why today we are endorsing Jocelyn Benson, a leader who will take decisive action to help our neighbors,” said Bishop John Drew Sheard Sr. “Jocelyn is committed to making life here more affordable, and we can trust her to deliver because she has a plan and a track record of solving big problems. She has walked alongside our communities, and now we are united behind her in this work.”

The Michigan-Ontario Council of Bishops is the latest to join a growing coalition of state and local leaders, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations supporting Benson to be our next governor. They join the broad coalition of mayors, city leaders, educators, and labor organizations in recognizing Benson’s track record of delivering for Michiganders and standing up to anyone who threatens our safety, rights, and freedom and leadership make her the best candidate for governor. She also has the support of state and national organizations including the Michigan Association of Justice, Michigan Democratic Party’s Black Caucus, the Detroit Original Eastside Slate, EMILYs List, and End Citizen United, among others.
