PRESS RELEASE

FINISHING STRONG: Two Weeks from Election Day Jocelyn Benson Completes 40th Marathon in Detroit

Yesterday, Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for Governor Jocelyn Benson ran the Detroit Free Press marathon — finishing the race in 4:08:44 and marking the completion of her 40th marathon. Two weeks out from Election Day, Jocelyn sported a “Costs Down, Wages Up, End Corruption” t-shirt, as she competed alongside 30,000 other runners.

As a marathoner, Jocelyn knows what it means to show up, put in the work every single day, and stay laser-focused on getting across the finish line. That’s why, over the next two weeks, she will be barnstorming the state to meet voters in every corner of Michigan, share her plan to lower costs and raise wages, and do everything she can to win back a Democratic trifecta in November.

After crossing the finish line, Jocelyn spoke with FOX2 Detroit to share more about what running marathons means to her:

“It's a reminder that we can all do much more than we think we're capable of when we start out on a journey. Every time I've started a marathon, I always doubt whether I can finish it. And every step of the way, you just put one foot in front of the other until you cross the finish line,” said Jocelyn Benson. “It reminds me that we can all do much more than we realize if we just stay focused, and put one foot in front of the other.”
