PRESS RELEASE

Benson Campaigns with Reproductive Freedom for All President Mini Timmaraju

Today, Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson joined Reproductive Freedom for All President Mini Timmaraju to talk with Michiganders about what’s at stake in this year’s gubernatorial race and the importance of electing leaders who will protect Michiganders’ access to reproductive healthcare and stand up for their rights and freedoms. Reproductive Freedom for all previously endorsed Benson for governor.

As Secretary of State, Jocelyn always stands up for Michiganders’ rights and freedoms, and has spoken out against Donald Trump’s attacks on healthcare. She is the only candidate in the race for governor who has released a comprehensive healthcare affordability plan to tackle skyrocketing costs and ensure that all Michiganders have access to affordable care and reproductive care in every corner of the state.

“I know what it means to stand guard over your rights and freedoms. I'm seasoned. I'm a warrior. I've done that as Secretary of State, and I'm ready to do it as your next governor,” said Jocelyn Benson. “Right now, we are in a healthcare crisis. Everywhere I go, particularly in rural areas, women are coming up to me, saying, ‘I need access to care and I don't know how to get it.’ We must do better. As governor, I'm going to show up every day for the women in this state who need that critical access to care, because I've experienced it firsthand as a mom and as a woman.”

“Jocelyn Benson is the only candidate in this race with a strong record of protecting access to abortion and health care. Tonight, she laid out exactly what is at stake in this race and why Michigan needs a governor who will hold the line on what voters passed in 2022. Having a reproductive freedom champion in the Governor’s office has never mattered more, and Reproductive Freedom for All is proud to be in Detroit, standing with Jocelyn and the Michiganders who are counting on this race,” said Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju.
