STATEMENT: Jocelyn Benson on Jake Lang’s Demonstration In Dearborn

Ahead of far-right White nationalist and anti-Muslim activist Jake Lang’s demonstration planned for the Dearborn City Council meeting today, gubernatorial nominee and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson released the below statement:

“Dearborn, and its people, are a core part of what makes Michigan one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family. It’s a city full of hardworking, proud, patriotic Michiganders — and hard as they might try, these out-of-state agitators cannot change that. And we will not let their hate drive us apart.

“I call on leaders across our state — regardless of party — to condemn these agitators. Michigan is stronger when we see each other, stand up for each other, and recognize that we are all in this together. Hate will not win in our state. Division will not flourish.”
