Governor Gretchen Whitmer Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Governor

Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer endorsed Secretary of State and Democratic Nominee Jocelyn Benson to be the next Governor of Michigan where they rallied in Lansing to kick off the general election. Gov. Whitmer pointed to Benson’s record as Secretary of State – where she transformed the state’s largest agency to save people time and money – and her comprehensive plan to make Michigan the best place in the nation to live, work, and build a family to highlight why she will be an excellent governor.

“Take it from me, Jocelyn Benson will be a governor who gets things done. She’s a tough, principled leader who doesn’t get intimidated by anyone. She’ll stay focused on the basics, from lowering the cost of health care and housing to making investments in literacy, teacher recruitment, and child care,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “While Republicans in D.C. continue making life harder by jacking up the cost of gas, groceries, and health care, Michigan can elect a governor who lowers costs, solves problems, and gets the job done. That's Jocelyn Benson, and I’m proud to support her as our next governor.”

The endorsement came on the first day of the general election, following Jocelyn’s landslide victory in the Democratic primary. Jocelyn Benson received the most votes of any candidate in Michigan statewide primary history last night with over 1.2 million ballots cast for her to be the next governor of Michigan. She heads into the general election with a $6.4 million cash on hand and already reserved $10 million in air time for September and October.
