Benson Speaks at Northern Michigan Chamber, Meets with Michiganders, Visits Local Health Clinic

Today, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson spoke at the Northern Michigan Chamber sharing her plans about what it will take to ensure Michigan is the best place to be a kid, raise a kid, call home, and start and grow a business.

Following the Chamber meeting, Benson visited Contigo Dog Boutique to grab some treats for her new puppy, Lily, and meet with business owner Stephanie Dehn to discuss what small businesses like hers need to succeed and thrive.

Then, she made a stop at a small healthcare center in Traverse City where she toured their facility and witnessed firsthand the difference the dedicated doctors, nurses, and care staff make in the lives of those who call this great city home.

Wrapping up the day, Benson joined State Rep. Betsy Coffia and State House Democratic Leader Ranjeev Puri for a roundtable with rural Michiganders impacted by the healthcare crisis. She listened to stories from Michiganders living with cancer, struggling to pay their healthcare bills, and learned what they need from their next governor.

After traveling the state hearing countless stories from Michiganders who are struggling under the weight of an unaffordable health care system, earlier this year, Benson rolled out her agenda to fix Michigan's broken health care system through a plan focused on affordability, accessibility, and fairness.
