PRESS RELEASE

Benson for Governor Raised Nearly $6 Million in 2025, Outraising Entire Field

Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson raised another $1 million from thousands of supporters across Michigan to bring her total 2025 fundraising haul to $5.8 million – once again shattering records in Michigan’s open governor’s race.

Jocelyn received over 40,000 contributions in 2025 representing every county in Michigan. With 93% of contributions $100 or less, donations from all 83 counties in Michigan, and no corporate PAC money, her grassroots support signals a campaign ready to win.

“Michiganders are rallying behind Jocelyn Benson to fight for the future of our state,” said Benson campaign manager Nikki Goldschein. “She’s the only candidate in this race who won’t bend the knee to anyone, no matter how powerful they are, who  threatens the rights and freedoms of our citizens. Michiganders are looking for their next governor to be someone who understands the economic struggles people are facing and has a plan to do something about it. That’s why they’re investing in Jocelyn Benson.”

The fundraising announcement comes as Jocelyn is now in “pole position” to be the Democratic nominee for Michigan governor with most “democratic enthusiasm and money raised.” In January, Jocelyn unveiled her agenda to fix Michigan's broken health care system through a plan focused on affordability, accessibility, and fairness.

Since the last fundraising report, Jocelyn has earned endorsements from both leaders in the legislature – Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks and House Democratic Leader Ranjeev Puri – who join 28 other state lawmakers in their endorsements, former Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, Detroit Rev. Horace Sheffield, grassroots leaders like Mothering Justice’s Danielle Atkinson, and Metro Detroit Mayors.

Jocelyn Benson has $3.5 million cash on hand.
