Detroit City Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Governor

Today, Detroit City Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway endorsed Jocelyn Benson for governor.

“It’s no secret that people in Detroit are struggling right now. We need a partner in Lansing who will deliver for Michiganders by lowering costs and raising wages. Jocelyn Benson will be our champion,” said Detroit City Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway. “Jocelyn delivered for Detroiters as Secretary of State, saving folks time and money and defending their right to vote when it came under attack. Now, I trust Jocelyn to lead our state and make it a place where all can afford to live, stay, and get ahead.”

“Detroit is central to Michigan’s strength. When this city succeeds, our entire state moves forward. That’s why I’m thrilled to have the support of Council Member Angela Whitfield Calloway, a tireless advocate for the city we love,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “With Councilwoman Calloway in my corner, we’ll fight to raise wages, lower costs, and make government work for the people. Together, we can make Michigan a place where everyone can thrive.”

Council Member Calloway joins a growing coalition of Detroit leaders supporting Jocelyn Benson including: Council Member Gabriela Santiago Romero, former Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, State Rep. Tonya Myers-Phillips, Rev. Horace Sheffield, Mothering Justice Founder Danielle Atkinson, Detroit actor and former Senate candidate Hill Harper, and former City Council President Saunteel Jenkins.
