Jocelyn Benson for Governor

PRESS RELEASE

DAY 2: Jocelyn Benson’s “Driving Down Costs” Bus Tour Continues Across Michigan

Yesterday, the Benson-Brinks “Driving Down Costs” bus tour continued across Michigan. On day two of the tour, Jocelyn traveled to Grand Rapids, Holland, Muskegon, and St. Johns, before ending the day in Flint.

At each stop, Jocelyn drew a clear contrast: she will be a governor who fights to drive down costs, while John James puts politics and Trump’s failing policies, including the “John James Tax” hikes, over Michiganders.

“We’re on the brink of doing something really extraordinary in this state at a time where costs are going up and wages are stagnant. Folks are struggling to make ends meet, working multiple jobs just to cover the cost of childcare and healthcare and everything else,” said Jocelyn Benson. “Well, we’ve got a plan to change that. We’ve got a plan to drive down costs, to grow our economy, increase access to well-paying union jobs, and ensure that if anyone tries to interfere with your rights, your freedoms, your safety, your vote, that we’re going to stand in the way. Costs down, wages up, end corruption. Let’s show the nation that here in Michigan, we are blue, we are strong, we fight for the people.”

Jocelyn started the day in Grand Rapids, hosting a canvass launch with state Rep. Carol Glanville.

Jocelyn continued to Holland, launching another canvass alongside Joseph McClusky.

“When I go door to door, people don’t ask me who I’m married to or what side of the spiritual warfare I’m on,” said Joseph McClusky. “They ask me what I’m going to do for them in Lansing, and how I’m going to deliver results–how I’m going to make sure they can afford to put food on the table and a roof over their head. I’m so proud to be on this ticket from the top to the bottom.”

The tour proceeded to Muskegon, where Jocelyn hosted a canvass launch with Rebecca Amidon.

Jocelyn then visited Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. John’s.

Jocelyn wrapped up day two in Flint, holding a rally at Union City Fields alongside Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet and Senator Gary Peters.

“I am so proud to be here with this team, with Jocelyn Benson, who will be the next governor of the great state of Michigan,” said Senator Gary Peters. “This is not about promising things and maybe they’ll do it. We know they’re fighters. They fight every day. They make a difference in people’s lives, and they will continue to do that when they are governor and lieutenant governor, and that’s why we’re supporting them here today.”
