Jocelyn Benson Tours TechTown, Shares Plans to Invest in Small Businesses as Part of her Economic Development Plan

Yesterday, Secretary of State and Democratic Nominee for Governor Jocelyn Benson toured the TechTown facility in Detroit, a start-up incubator and accelerator that serves small businesses and entrepreneurs. During the tour she spoke with leaders in the science, technology, and foodservice industries, shared her plans to turn Michigan into the small business capital of the nation, and discussed the best ways the next governor can be a partner to programs like TechTown.

As governor, Jocelyn will invest in small businesses, cut costs, and make it easier to start and grow a business. Across the state, Jocelyn has heard from small business owners about how red-tape and high costs make it nearly impossible to succeed — and she’s the only candidate with a plan to do something about it.

“Too often, we drive down Main Street and see doors shuttered because of small businesses that have left and found markets elsewhere. We'll start to see that change as we grow and diversify our economy and invest in small business development and creation,” said Jocelyn Benson. “I'm eager to get started on this work because this is how we actually build wealth and create more jobs in Michigan.”
