Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union Endorses Jocelyn Benson for Governor

Today, the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union endorsed Jocelyn Benson as the next Governor of Michigan. The union praised Jocelyn’s commitment to making life more affordable for Michiganders so they can continue living, working, and raising their families in the communities they serve.

“Throughout this campaign, Jocelyn has shown she stands shoulder to shoulder with working Michiganders and believes everyone deserves to live in a state they can afford. That’s why Michigan’s firefighters are proud to stand with her,” said Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union President Matthew Sahr. “While her opponents are lining up behind a cost-raising agenda by cutting healthcare and driving up prices, Jocelyn is focused on lowering costs and protecting Michigan families – and will back legislation vital to firefighters. She won’t back down when anyone threatens to make life more expensive for the people we serve, and that’s why we’re endorsing her.”

“Every day, Michigan firefighters put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe, and I’m honored to have them standing with me in this campaign,” said Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson. “They deserve to be able to afford to live in the communities they protect and raise their families right alongside the people they serve. As governor, I’ll always fight for them just as they’ve always fought for us, and I’ll make sure they have a partner in the governor’s office who will work everyday to lower costs, raise wages, and make sure the people who protect our communities can build their lives right here in Michigan.”

The Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union is the latest to join a growing coalition of state and local leaders, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations supporting Benson to be Michigan’s next governor including the United Auto Workers, the Michigan AFL-CIO, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951, the majority of Michigan Teamsters (including locals 1038, 406, 243, 283, and 247), Michigan Laborers District Council, Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Michigan Nurses Association, UNITE HERE Local 24, and Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, among others.
