Benson Meets with Veterans, Holds Small Business Roundtable, Tours Local Farms Across Mid-Michigan

Yesterday, on Day 3 of her statewide “Costs Down, Wages Up” tour Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson met with veterans, held a small business roundtable, and toured local farms.

The tour is taking Benson across Michigan, from the Detroit metro area to Cheboygan, to hear how rising costs are impacting people’s lives, and to share her affordability agenda that will put more money in Michiganders’ pockets. At every stop, she’s drawing a clear contrast: the choice between a governor who fights to lower costs, or Republicans who have put politics over Michigan families.

In Ann Arbor, Benson visited Argus Farm Stop on Liberty before heading to the Argus Packard Market for a roundtable discussion with local suppliers about how high costs are impacting their operations, and how Jocelyn could best support them as governor.

“We're in a moment at the federal level where government is showing up everywhere we don't want it, and not showing up when we actually need it. I want to make sure, here in Michigan, we're showing up for you when you need us, saving you time, saving you money, helping you grow, then getting out of the way when you need us to get out of the way,” said Secretary Benson. “Just as I’m here today to learn and hear and listen, I'll do the same as Governor. I’ll make sure you’re part of shaping the policies we create, so that we can grow these great institutions that you’ve all built, not just here in Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County, but all throughout the state.”

Benson started the day meeting with veterans at the VFW National Home where she shared her experience as the wife of a veteran and member of a military family.

Later, Benson visited Eaton Meat – a local meat supplier – in Charlotte.

In Manchester, Benson visited SASHA Animal Sanctuary to tour the space, meet the animals, and learn about the group’s work.
