NEW MI GOV POLL: Jocelyn Benson Surges to Commanding Lead in New Poll

Benson Up Five Points in Three-Way Race as Momentum Grows

New polling conducted by the Glengariff Group shows Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson growing her lead in the race for governor as voters learn more about her record of delivering for Michiganders and her plans to lower costs, raise wages, and protect their rights and freedoms. While Independent Candidate Mike Duggan has spent over $12 million on ads, the new polling – commissioned by the Duggan-aligned Detroit Regional Chamber – shows Duggan has lost significant ground. The Republican candidates don’t fare any better.

Jocelyn leads the field with 34% of the vote, ahead of John James’ 29%, and Mike Duggan’s 23%, with just 12% undecided. Benson is building a broad coalition, leading the rest of the field among women, Black voters, and voters under 50.

Key Findings:

  • Benson leads in the governor’s race by 5 points, winning 34% of voters. John James and Mike Duggan continue to trail Benson with 29% and 23% respectively, and 12% undecided.

  • Benson has consolidated support among Democrats, winning 76% of strong Democratic voters and 64% of leaning Democratic voters. As a result, Duggan is now pulling more support from Republican candidates, winning 24% of Republican voters and only 16% of Democrats.

  • Benson is in a strong position with key groups she will need to win. Benson leads among women by 16 points and Black voters by 10 points. Jocelyn also leads among all voters under 50.

“Michiganders are rallying behind Jocelyn Benson because she’s the only candidate in the race focused on lowering costs, raising wages and protecting our rights and freedoms. Her message is resonating across the state, and Team Benson’s coalition will only continue to grow in every corner of Michigan,” said Benson Campaign Manager Nikki Goldschein. “Meanwhile, after spending $12 million, the ‘Independent’ is stuck in a distant third place and losing ground – just as polling has shown for months. And the Republican candidates are too busy bending the knee to Donald Trump to actually focus on the needs of Michiganders. While Duggan and James answer to corporate interests, Jocelyn Benson answers to Michiganders.”
