Jocelyn Benson for Governor

PRESS RELEASE

Jocelyn Benson Campaigns with Congressional Candidate Callie Barr, Vows to Work Together to Deliver for Michigan

Today, Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for Governor Jocelyn Benson rallied with Democratic nominee for Michigan CD-1 Callie Barr in Traverse City, and shared her plans to lower costs and deliver for families in northern Michigan and across the state.

With the cost of everything on the rise, too many families are forced to make sacrifices to put food on the table, go to the doctor, and care for their loved ones. The next governor has a moral responsibility to work with their partners in Lansing and Washington to deliver real relief for Michigan families, and Jocelyn is the only candidate in this race with a comprehensive plan to make it happen. While Jocelyn is focused on driving down costs, raising wages, and ending corruption, John James has spent his time in Congress lining his own pockets — investing in the same companies he’s supposed to regulate — and doing whatever Trump tells him to.

“[Jocelyn] was tough and strong when it mattered and when it counted, right? She made sure our vote mattered in the moment that history called for it to matter,” said Democratic nominee for CD-1, Callie Barr. “And so it's that same kind of efficiency, bravery, the kind of leadership that we need in our future governor, that makes me so excited to be here with her today.”

“I'm in this fight to make sure that Michigan is the best place to call home. And I can't get that done — I can't reduce the cost of health care, of housing, of our energy bills, of child care — without allies in Washington D.C.,” said Jocelyn Benson. “We need to elect leaders who will fight to reduce our costs, grow well-paying jobs, and stand with the people against powerful special interests. And we are both running against people who have chosen their pocketbooks and Donald Trump over the people of Michigan for far too long. And we're going to change that, we're all going to change that together.”
